"Ring Knockers" are a source of nepotism or cronyism.
But that said, the academies are a tradition that should be cleaned up.
Only the best were supposed to go.
Like getting admitted to MIT.
WashPo is one of the head communist rags.
E- and K -from personal experience w/ my son -who was accepted at USMA and USAFA -- I can attest that only the best w/ the highest SATs -Eagle Scout-and super recommendations -can get in--1200 from a field of 8,000 -12,000 + -
so- you know how I feel about the closing of the academies--
I think I told you about the 'ceremony' when a woman came to the high school I'm associated with on the pretense that Senior David needed yet another interview with the Naval Academy.
Instead, it was a surprise announcement when he came into the 'interview' room full of his English class of that period and we in Admin who'd been told "GET DOWN THERE...They're giving David his acceptance today!"
It was positively THRILLING as he was SO stunned as she handed him a beautifully elaborate folder with his acceptance in it... and he's an A1 student who deserves the Academy. We were all applauding and then crying and then the ONE liberal admin type who used to do college admissions cheerily yelled "and it's FREE!" to which I said "No, it's NOT! Our taxes pay for it and look how worthwhile it is!"
DO NOT CLOSE IT DOWN. It's almost like yet another nail in the dignity and respect this country used to have before this president.
so proud of your son Carol! xoxoxox
