Sgt. Ruben Troyer, senior horse
trainer, Caisson platoon, 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard),
gives Rambler, a Caisson horse, a reaffirming pat on the head after a
successful training session at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, Va. As
part of the training, Troyer ensures each horse is able to respect,
trust and have confidence in his rider. The Old Guard Caisson platoon is
the only platoon of its kind in the Army, laying to rest our nation's
heroes in Arlington National Cemetery, Va. Official DoD Photo.

Thank you for a great post, Carol, and a deafening OOHRAH and SEMPER FI! I'll forward this on to Obamohammad; he doesn't know we still use bayonets, either.
M-Horses and bayonets-still go together nicely!! thanks for forwarding this to Obamohammad (-:
Horse troops? Wow, the last mounted cavalry charge by American troopers was in 1942 in the Philippines against the Japs.
Yeah... But it may not be the LAST.
S-it was great to watch videos of horses being used in our present "situation" in Afghanistan-
Horses can go where many 'advanced' vehicles cannot-
M4- I see horses being used for conflicts here in the US if the regime keeps cutting officers who honor their oaths-I'll say no more!
