A Marine General Takes a Stand on Open Homosexuality in the Military!!

Open homosexuality in the close quarter ranks of the military!!!
Remember-when this -don't ask -don't tell THING came down the pike before --- the Marines stood strong and stated that the corps would opt for decommission before it would allow openly sanctioned homosexuals in its ranks OR,>>> NO MORE MARINES>..How would that play out -Gates-Meyer-Leiberman...BHO!! (the community organizer who has never served!!!) and et al.???
Marine General Takes a Stand:
The head of the US Marines said on Thursday he opposed ending the ban on gays serving openly in the military, the first top officer to break openly with President Barack Obama over the issue.

General James Conway told the Senate Armed Services Committee that he disagreed with Obama's plan to repeal the ban.

"My best military advice to this committee, to the (defense) secretary, and to the president would be to keep the law such as it is."

Conway said the current policy worked and any bid to lift the ban should answer the question: "do we somehow enhance the war fighting capabilities of the United States Marine Corps by allowing homosexuals to openly serve?"

Conway's public rejection of his commander-in-chief's stance is sure to fuel debate in Congress on the issue and reflects apprehension among some senior military officers about changing the 1993 law.

...France and Britain are mentioned as 'roll models for open gay-ity'...and how well are the PC European military personnel doing!!!?????????

There is more on the link.

IMO, it is a cultural thing. here we learn:
"Countries that allow gays to serve in the military:

Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Belgium, Britain, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland

Countries that ban gays from the military:

Argentina, Belarus, Brazil, Croatia, Greece, Poland, Peru, Portugal, Russia, Turkey, United States and Venezuela.

The list does not include those countries in which homosexuality is banned outright, such as Iran, Saudi Arabia and several other nations in the Middle East. These countries generally have no stated policy on gays in the military because they do not allow or acknowledge the presence of gays at all."
In the case of the Israelis, they are a fine military and have had
gays serve openly for many years.
We need consider, however that Israel has a draft and seldom deploys as long as the US military.
Britain, Australia and Finland also field good troops. IMO, the crux of the matter is not military gays, per se, but the "open" issue vs military discipline. I mention
cultural thing above, because there
are still many in the US military that are not keen on women serving
either!

As I view it, the ban on gays in the military is a result of avoiding sexual tensions. The reason the sexes are separated in the military, i.e. separate living quarters, bathrooms, etc. is because it is difficult to be comfortable when somebody may be eyeing you for a sexual encounter. With homosexuality, you can no longer give someone that degree of privacy and the military does not know what to do about it. Therefore, they ban openly homosexual personnel.

Because combat is trying enough on a person’s nerves, I agree with the General. Otherwise, we should abandon all personal privacy in the military and mix men and women in sleeping quarters and restroom facilities, combat arms, and have done with it. I am tired of half measures being taken in order to make a minority feel good. If BHO wants to do that, then great, otherwise he and his ilk should shut up.

Explains why the Euros are in reality just a bunch of useless gayboys.

Good on this Marine for standing up to obama nd his bumboy agenda, why the homos have to be accommodated in every sphere of life is beyond me.

Gays in the military is a back-burner issue with me but I don't like it. I think we will see a lot of generals questioning and challenging Obama on a lot of things.

I am back on line.

I had to deal with this problem in my time as an enlisted Navy man on a destroyer and a cruiser. A guy worked under me (not literally) and he was as queer as a three dollar bill. Nice guy, and adequate technician, but he had a penchant for staring at guys in the showers.

I tried talking to him at least twice because he was a very nice guy and I thought he was a wonderful person, but he persisted in "meat gazing."

Some of the guys got together and told me that they were going to throw his ass overboard in the North Atlantic if "John" didn't cut it out ASAP!

I told John what the score was and he straightened his act up. Treading water for hours at 49 degrees didn't really appeal to him.

Openly gay soldiers will be an ENORMOUS problem!

You all know how I feel about PC-infiltrating the military and endangering our BEST----if they have to keep 'looking over their shoulders' -being wary of their own cadre-they will lose focus - losing focus at the job of war is lethal

Thank you BBI-MK-WS-SR & J for giving your takes...I appreciate them...

BB-Idaho was right on: Most nations accept gays into the military without distiction. Also, to be fair to remember that Gen. POwell, The Sec. of Defence and the Joint Chiefs believe it is time to remove DADT. Gen. Conway finds himself in the minority.
