covert=not openly shown, to cover = (my take) to cover up or hide the truth...

Regard/compare- the scene at the church confessional as the MSM---
It is also my observation that leaders from all religions are tempted to cover-up indiscretions of the wealthy/or entrenched in their 'congregations' ..I call it - 'Follow the Money and/or Power'...
Would we have had - the Kennedys/Sanford/Barney Frank/bho!??

My second take--if an human is a LIAR in one area-that human is a liar in all areas...
DO we all sin".... and come short of the glory of GOD" Rm.3:23 --YES--
When we repent - Christ admonished that we were to 'go and sin no more'...

It is my belief that many of our 'leaders' in all areas of our society are followers of Lucifer -humans like Alinsky -who gave honor to Lucifer in his book --and his 'offspring' -Ayers-H.Clinton-bho and et.al. and do not recognize lying as an evil or a sin....because they believe there is no sin...
