Our liberties are always under assault because there are always people who are opposed to them for whatever reason. This is why the free citizen must remain ever vigilant against such attacks. Congress and the Federal government has proven repeatedly that they cannot be trusted to do the job for us and it was never their responsibility to begin with. If we are to remain a free people we must work to secure our own freedoms and a healthy dose of suspicion toward the government in general and toward politicians in particular is an excellent place to start. The free citizen who is a skeptic where government is concerned will remain free while those who trust too easily will be stripped of their liberty.
