My wife's daughter has been there a couple times, and she old us what they want the most are spices and reading material. She never asked about food outside of prepackaged stuff like gummy bears.
Personally I'd be wary of receiving some pot luck meal. Give me the MRE and some spices.
K-MREs for me- even here in CA- as emergency meals-
I remember well - our 1994 earthquake - no water-food-electricity for several days-
I have played it safe and just donate to Cup of Joe for a Joe.
